On Words

I get words, and quotes and lines, stuck in my head the way some people do song lyrics. There are some that have stuck with me for years...

The first line in Anna Karenina...

The last line of the Harry Potter series...

Parts of The Fountain Head, The Secret Garden and The Velveteen Rabbit...

There are lines and bits from movies too, etched deep in my soul...

Parts of The Princess Bride, Snow White, Love Actually, Brigid Jones, The Sound of Music...

and in particular...these:

“I don't want to be someone that you're settling for. I don't want to be someone that anyone settles for. Marriage is hard enough without bringing such low expectations into it, isn't it?”
—Walter from Sleepless in Seattle

"I like Patricia. I love Patricia. Patricia makes coffee nervous. "
--Joe Fox, You've Got Mail

"Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around?"
Kathleen Kelly, You've Got Mail

"I am not your consolation prize, Harry."
-Sally Albright, When Harry Met Sally

Thank you, Nora.
